Patterson Hood - Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams

Frances Thrasher aka Heaven4TheYoung + Patterson Hood’s - Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams

Last fall, Patterson reached out to see if Frances still had one of the paintings she created during the COVID days, titled Headache. He had seen it on her Instagram a few years earlier and said he had imagined it as his new album cover ever since, feeling that nothing else captured the mood of the new songs better. It was a bold choice for an album cover, and we were thrilled when he sent over the final design, deciding not to add any titles or text to the cover. He and his sister, Lilla Hood, who designed the album, didn’t want to take away from the power of the painting.

After the album's release, Patterson reached out and asked Frances to design the new tour poster. His only direction was to draw him as a werewolf.

Frances also produced the music video for the song The Pool House using her mothers childhood doll house. She shot the video with still images and used stop motion to create the dreamy affect. Check out more of her video work at Heaven4TheYoung

Frances was featured in the UK's Uncut magazine. The striking album cover has sparked conversation about the album and has been mentioned in many articles about the new record, including this sidebar in Uncut magazine.

The werewolf was even incorporated into the new T-shirt Design.

As a photographer, I've had my work featured on many albums, but nothing has been more special than having my images used alongside my daughter's artwork on Patterson’s fantastic new album, Exploding Trees and Airplane Screams.
